Sir Ken Robinson on changing education paradigms

In this great video, Sir Ken Robinson asks:

"How do we educate our children to take their place in the 21st century?"

He posed that introductory question several years ago, but it is still completely contemporary and of concern.

In his talk, Sir Ken proceeds to give the answer. He espouses divergent thinking as the foundation of all disciplines and leads with research showing that 98% of us are, in fact, geniuses! In kindergarten. You can guess where he goes from there.

I love this talk (and the superb animation). It captures the essence of homeschooling and democratic education and there are loads of inspirational take-homes that parents and teachers in 'regular' school systems can use too. Either way, it's wonderful for recharging batteries and freshening ideas and ideals.

Here's the link to the full talk: Do Schools Kill Creativity? - it actually gives a whole different perspective to the animation.

There are so many other interesting talks by Sir Ken on youtube - if you're interested in more, you can check them out here. And you might also like this 2011 book by Sir Ken Robinson with Lou Aronica: The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything.

Meantime, we hope you enjoy today's from WTBA - and have a lovely weekend!
